Running Is Healthy For You
As tiring as it may be, running has so many benefits ranging from total body exercise, losing weight, increasing lean tissue, to running for a cure.
How fast a person runs has little effect on the number of calories he or she burns. The important factor is weight; for example a person who runs 5 miles everyday loses five pounds every month, thus maintaining a good body weight. Running maintains the elasticity of arteries which in turn lowers blood pressure. As one runs his or her artery expands and contracts more than usual keeping the arteries elastic thus lowering blood pressure.
Running, same as using a treadmill ,also maximizes the lungs’ potential, keeping them strong and powerful. Even smokers recover full lung potential through running and end up smoking less or even quitting the habit altogether. Running also does strengthen the heart and hence preventing heart attacks.
Apart from the physical benefits, running is exhilarating due to the release of beta-endorphin triggered by neurons in the nervous system giving the runner a high and extreme happiness which could even replace other addictions like drugs, alcohol, or even food.
Most runners maintain a balanced diet low in fats but high in carbohydrates which is vital for all forms of exercises since muscles require glycogen for energy. Potatoes and pastas are among the best sources of glycogen.
Some runners view running as a remedy to some of their ailments, running treats clinical depression, anxiety, makes patients less tense, less fatigued, as well as less confused. Running has also been a cure to addiction to drugs and alcohol with outstanding results. Running has also been used to treat patients with heart diseases along with other activities to increase power or strength. Many take it for granted but its benefits are endless.
Apart from getting total body fitness some people take up running as a professional career which reaps them both fame and fortune apart from having some of the best physique and healthy bodies.
